To President Barack Obama, and all U.S. Representatives and Senators:

We, the undersigned, propose that our 535 congressional leaders in Washington pass the legislation necessary to implement the SUN (“Stimulate-US-Now”) Plan as soon as possible, which will result in the distribution of $3,000 in prepaid Credit Cards to all American citizens and permanent residents who are 18 and older. These Cards will expire six months after issuance, to generate spending quickly, and they are valid only in the United States. We recommend that the money required to do this be taken from unspent funds in the existing $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 Stimulus Package ($700 billion unspent, and $500 billion uncommitted), unspent TARP funds ($400 billion), and with unspent reserves from the $1.3 trillion monetary package for banks (who are now holding $800 billion in excess reserves above their capital requirements). Allow us to directly prime the consumer spending pump, which drives 70% of the US economy, by spending SUN money NOW on goods and services of our choosing. Our spending will bring retail, manufacturing and service jobs back NOW. Our spending will generate tax revenues for municipalities, states and the federal government NOW, providing a “return” to the US government from the Credit Cards issued, and also eliminating the need to raise taxes on anyone. In creating jobs, our spending will eradicate millions of people from the unemployment rolls, saving our State and Federal governments tens of billions in unemployment benefits NOW. Our spending will boost profits for businesses that will in turn bring confidence back to Wall Street and send stocks, and our 401K’s higher, NOW. Our spending will instill the sense of confidence that America needs NOW, to move forward in our daily lives knowing that our future is secure, and that we can begin living normally, and without fear. Allow us to stimulate the economy NOW, efficiently and with velocity, in exactly the same way that the economy works. We implore Congress and the President to do what is right for all Americans to protect our livelihoods and our families, and implement the SUN program NOW!”
